In a report by SaharaReporters, some suspected terrorists attacked and reportedly killed many residents, including women and children at Kubat village in the area during an assault last week.

The terrorists invaded the community when the villagers were asleep.

Last Wednesday, a member of the House of Representatives representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency in Plateau State, Solomon Marren, said about 200 people had been killed by terrorists in his constituency within a few months.

A statement issued by the lawmaker said over 100 people were killed within two days.

“I find it expedient at this time to intimate the world on the unfortunate happenings in my constituency, Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, Plateau state, in the last two days, where over 100 persons, most of them women and children, have been massacred and butchered in cold blood by terrorist during an overnight unprovoked attack, and their houses burnt down, including foodstuffs, food barns and seedlings,” he said.

Governor Simon Lalong, who confirmed the crisis in the area, described it as a sad development.

He directed security forces to pursue and apprehend the attackers.

According to Dr. Makut Simon, Lalong's Director of Press and Public Affairs, the governor also directed the State Emergency Management Agency and the Peace Building Agency to visit the area and assess the humanitarian needs in order to provide assistance to those affected while an investigation was being carried out.
