TUC Chairman, Monday Ogbodum addressed journalists on the welfare of workers under Ayade’s eight years administration.

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, on Wednesday, insisted that payment of salaries and pensions are great achievements, more critical than any other project, given the current circumstance of the country.

Ayade stated this while appearing on Arise TV’s morning show on Wednesday.

The governor said, “I met Cross River State at that very figures of unemployment.

“Salaries and pensions are a fantastic achievement in the circumstances today. I tell you why, you see you build a road but you need the citizens to have their independence, ease and integrity to be able to walk on those roads.

“What is the point of building a skyscraper when your citizens are poor? I’m a son of a civil servant and because of that, I’m conscious and I know the circumstances under which I was brought up. So, I know that salary and pension are far more critical than any other project,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Cross River on Monday disclosed that no civil servant in the state got a promotion in the last seven years.

TUC Chairman, Monday Ogbodum addressed journalists on the welfare of workers under Ayade’s eight years administration.

Ogbodum insisted that apart from regular payment of salaries and pensions, workers in the state had the worst welfare under Ayade’s administration.
