Murphy Afolabi, the popular Nigerian actor, producer, and director, sadly passed away on Sunday.

The Nollywood star passed in the wee hours of the day after reportedly falling in the bathroom.

Tunde Ola Yusuf announced his death on his Instagram page.

Yusuf prayed for the late Afolabi’s soul farewell.

Here are 11 things you probably didn’t know about Murphy Afolabi:

1. Murphy was born on May 5, 1974.

2. He was  49 years old.

3. He born in Osun State and hails from Oroki Asala in Osogbo.

4. His first stint in professional acting began under the guidance of veteran actor Fasasi Olabankewin (Dagunro) in 1998.

5. He had a Diploma in Theatre Arts and Film Production from Osun State Polytechnic in Iree.

6. Afolabi who was fond of writing scripts and producing films in the Yoruba language, graduated in 2001.

7. He appeared in over 60 movies some of which include ‘Ifa Olokun’, ‘Omowunmi’, ‘Jimi Bendel’, ‘Wasila Coded’, ‘Olokiki Oru’, and ‘Idera’.

8. He became famous following his role in the movie ‘Omo Rapala.’

9. Until his death, he was a well-loved producer and had multiple movies to his credit.

10. He was the CEO of Fatuns Films Production.

11. The late actor was a father of three, two boys, and one girl named Afolabi Olamilekan, Afolabi Fathia Moyosore, and Okikiola Afolabi.
