Man Sentenced To 4-months For Constituting Nuisance, Disturbing Public Peace

The convict pleaded guilty to a count charge of constituting a nuisance after injunction to discontinue.


 

A man identified as Sabiu Akilu has been sentenced to four months imprisonment by a Karu Upper Area Court sitting in Abuja on Friday,  for constituting nuisance.

The judge, Mr Ishaq Hassan, however, gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine and warned him to desist from disturbing public peace.

The convict, who has no fixed address, had pleaded guilty to a count charge of constituting a nuisance after injunction to discontinue.

The prosecutor, Mr Olarewaju Osho, told the court that Akilu was arrested by a team of policemen from Asokoro Police Station on March 15.

He said the team led by DSP Courage Erhabor while on patrol, arrested the convict and three others at Kasuan Dere, Asokoro Village while he was disturbing public peace.

He said that during the police investigation, the convict could not give a satisfactory account of himself.

The alleged offence contravenes Section 199 of the Penal Code.
