Outgoing British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing has knocked the Independent National Electoral Commission.

This is as she stated that Nigerian politicians who violated human rights or perpetrated violence during the 2023 election will be punished.

Speaking to Symfoni in an interview, Laing stated that there might be a visa ban for such politicians or other sanctions would be instituted as punishment for the act.

She also called out the Independent National Electoral Commission for failing to deliver on its promise of ensuring that election results are viewed by Nigerians in real time. Laing said this created room to manipulate results and also affects INEC’s credibility.
