A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Femi Fani-Kayode has urged the federal government to use the military to evacuate stranded Nigerians in the country.

Over 4,000 Nigerian students are stranded in Sudan amid crisis in the region.

Recall that for weeks now, there has been fighting between the Sudanese Army general and the Rapid Support Forces in the country’s capital, Khartoum, leading to countries evacuating their nationals.

However, stranded Nigerian students have called for evacuation help from the Federal Government.

On the Nigerian Government’s part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, said it is waiting for clearance from the Sudanese Government before evacuating its citizens.

Meanwhile, in his latest reaction on his official Twitter handle, the former Aviation Minister, Fani-Kayode, insisted that if it requires the Nigerian Government to send the Military to rescue its citizens stranded in Sudan, the government must do so quickly.

He lamented the video of Sudanese soldiers slaughtering their fellow Africans.

He said the Federal Government should follow the footsteps of the French, Germans, Turkish, Portuguese and other governments who have managed to evacuate their citizens.

“I just watched a horrific video of Sudanese soldiers slaughtering their fellow Africans in the streets of Khartoum. The French, Germans, Turkish, Portuguese, Polish, Irish, Dutch and others have managed to evacuate their citizens. For God’s sake, when are we getting ours out? If we need to send in the Military, we MUST do so! These are OUR compatriots, and most of them are students”, he tweeted.
