Melaye made the claim while appearing on Arise TV’s morning show on Wednesday.

Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Kogi State has accused Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike of always wanting to be in the news.

He said Wike is an attention seeker who has granted live coverage more than any other public officer in the world.

Melaye made the claim while appearing on Arise TV’s morning show on Wednesday.

He described the Rivers governor as an attention seeker.

Melaye said, “Wike is an attention seeker. He wants to be talked about in the news at all times.

“He has granted live coverage more than any other public officer in the world. He wants to do ground-breaking of a project, he goes live. He wants to do foundation, he goes live, one single project five, six people will come and you create ceremonies and waste the taxpayers’ money of Rivers State.”

This is coming after Wike had on April 11 during a media chat in Port Harcourt said Melaye lacked what it takes to become Governor of Kogi State.

Melaye had, while replying to Wike, linked his rift with him to the governor’s inability to secure the party’s presidential ticket in 2022 and the refusal of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to pick him as his running mate.

The face-off between both politicians began when Wike kicked against Melaye’s bid to secure the PDP ticket for the Kogi gubernatorial election.
