Powerful said Lokpanta cattle market had become the den of kidnappers, terrorists, and bandits.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has called for the closure of Lokpanta cattle market in Abia State.

According to IPOB, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State should revoke the permit granted to the authorities of the Lokpanta cattle market in the State because it is a den of kidnappers, terrorists and bandits..

IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful also called on state governor-elect, Alex Otti, to either revoke or relocate the market if Okezie fails to listen to them.

A statement by Powerful said the market is not beneficial to the Southeast.

According to Powerful: “The Indigenous People of Biafra led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu publicly calls on the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu and the in-coming Governor Alex Oti to revoke whatever permit if any that was granted for the establishment of Lokpanta Cattle Market.

“This market is not yielding any benefit to Abia State in particular and Biafrans in general. Instead, it has become a den for kidnappers and a center for kidnapping and banditry against Ndigbo.”

IPOB urged Ikpeazu and Otti to use the site of the market for a modern trade fair centre.

“To make Lokpanta Market and its environment safe and productive, IPOB has designated the land as the site for a modern and biggest trade fair Center on the African Continent and to ensure that our people returning from Lagos and other parts of Nigeria will continue with their respective businesses unhindered and create a source of revenue for the Abia State government,” he said.

Powerful claimed that Lokpanta market was being used as a base by terrorists masquerading as herders.
