The governor said the Security Council meeting condemned the killing of innocent persons, stressing that nobody should be allowed to kill fellow beings on any account.
He hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for ordering the arrest of killer herdsmen in the state and acknowledged the directive of the President, which he said had been communicated to heads of securities in the state.
Part of the Security Council’s resolution was the suspension of the activities of Livestock Guards to allow security personnel flush out herdsmen who have allegedly entered Benue State with herds of cattle.
Ortom said he is still the governor of Benue State, adding that the anti-open grazing law would remain in place till the endo of his tenure.
He urged Governor-elect Hyacinth Alia to wait until May 29, if he wished to repeal the law.
