Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has gone to the tribunal to challenge the result of the Benue North West senatorial election held in the state.
This is as he said the election was clinically rigged.
Recall that the governor lost the February 25 poll to Titus Zam of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
While Ortom polled 106,882 votes, Zam had 143,151 votes, while Mark Gbillah, the candidate of the Labour Party, LP, garnered 51,950 votes.
Speaking on the matter while commissioning about twelve projects across Makurdi, Ortom said the election was clinically and electronically rigged.
He, however, said it is not over yet, expressing optimism that the victory of Zam would be upturned in court.
According to him, “The election was rigged clinically, electronically, scientifically and otherwise.
“However, I am not angry at anyone who may not have voted for me in the election. But I want to let you know that it is not over yet.
“My party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is ready to challenge the outcome of the elections at the tribunal.
“My party has already contacted her lawyers and they are looking at the results with a view to approaching the tribunal, and I am confident that the party will recover all her stolen mandates.”
