Rotimi said the governorship candidate acted against what the party stands for as he had no such authority to announce the alignment of the Labour Party with any party in the state.
The Labour Party's gubernatorial candidate in Kwara state, Basambo Abubakar, has been suspended for alleged anti-party activities and dissemination of misleading information to members of the public.
Abubakar, a former aide to former Senate President Bukola Saraki, had claimed that Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state had decided to work together for March 18 governorship elections, to birth a collective dream for a prosperous Kwara state.
However, addressing reporters in Ilorin, the party's chairman Kehinde Rotimi said that the party did not align with any governorship candidate or political party in the state for the Saturday governorship elections.
Rotimi said the governorship candidate acted against what the party stands for as he had no such authority to announce the alignment of the Labour Party with any party in the state.
The party chairman enjoined members of the public to disregard the statement credited to its governorship candidate, adding that all House of Assembly candidates of the party are still in the race.
