The meeting with INEC officials was meant to come before the party began to inspect the 2023 election materials, as earlier requested.
The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu has met with Peter Obi’s legal team.
The team arrived at the headquarters of INEC in Abuja for a crucial meeting concerning the inspection of election materials used in the presidential election.
Obi's legal team was led to INEC office by Dr Livy Uzoukwu.
Confirming the arrival, the electoral body via its Twitter page said the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu assured the Labour Party’s Legal Team that the Commission will provide all the documents it requested to prosecute its case.
The electoral umpire also assured that the election documents will be immediately made available to LP’s legal team.
The post read: “INEC has nothing to hide. Documents available at the HQ will be given immediately. We are meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners today and we will discuss how other documents at the state level could also be made available to you speedily.
“The Labour Party’s Legal Team was at the INEC HQ to discuss modalities for obtaining the documents.”
