The Labour Party (LP) has sent our a message to Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari.

The party in Lagos yesterday reviewed the outcome of last Saturday’s presidential election in the state and asked President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure a violence-free governorship and state assembly polls in the state on March 11.

Recall that the LP defeated the APC in the home state of the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, amidst pockets of violence in the state.

The LP’s state legal adviser, Barrister Abass Arisekola Ibrahim, at a press briefing said, “We knew the places our party could have more votes, and the electorate got frustrated in their resolve to cast votes for our party, particularly as regards the delay in arrival of the election materials.

“It must not happen during the governorship and house of assembly elections coming March 11, 2023 because Lagosians, who voted on February 25, are still resolved and will stand for their rights against such election misconduct.”

He decried the logistics challenges experienced during the last elections, saying despite arriving early at their polling units, many voters were unable to get accredited until very late in the afternoon and voting into late evening of the day.
