According to the prosecutor, the defendant had consequently drawn out a knife which he used to inflict injuries on the complainant, resulting in grievous bodily harm.
An Ojo Magistrate’s Court in Lagos has arraigned a 45-year-old man, Mukaila Wasiu, for assaulting another man.
The defendant is standing trial before the Magistrate, Mr L.J.K Layeni, on a one-count charge of assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 25 at the Hassan bus stop in the Shibiri area of Ojo.
He alleged that during a misunderstanding between the defendant and a complainant, one Wasiu Lasisi, a fight had ensued.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant had consequently drawn out a knife which he used to inflict injuries on the complainant, resulting in grievous bodily harm.
He told the court that the defendant was eventually arrested by the police and detained.
He said that the offence contravened the provision of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, one of which must be a family member.
He adjourned the trial until March 1.
