Ayo Makun, the popular Nigerian comedian, more commonly known as AY, has sent put a message to fans.

AY urged fans to stop putting celebrities under pressure.

He said this in a Thursday tweet that has since gone viral.

AY said that most celebrities become a slave to fear during election period as it becomes dangerous for them to publicly take a stand on any issue.

The comedian and filmmaker noted that celebrities easily got “blacklisted or attacked” whenever they took a stand.

AY’s comment comes amid a controversy involving popular singer, Brymo, who has been in the eye of the storm lately for spewing anti-Igbo comments.

“Most celebs have become slaves to fear during elections.

“Whenever they publicly take a stand on any political candidate of their choice, they are either BLACKLISTED or ATTACKED by clueless thugs who would do anything to secure their own interests.

“Stop putting them under pressure,” he wrote.

In a follow-up tweet, AY said it was easy for ordinary folks to say whatever they wished on social media without consequences, a luxury he said celebrities do not have.

He noted that many of the celebrities that backed the October 2020 protests popularly known as EndSARS suffered consequences that ordinary folks did not.
