According to reports, some of the banks at Oba Adesida road and Alagbaka were under lock and key.
Due to the constant attacks on banks by aggrieved Nigerians over the scarcity of the new naira notes, some commercial banks have shut operations in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
According to The Nation, some of the banks at Oba Adesida road and Alagbaka were under lock and key.
Some customers were seen waiting in front of some the banks and one of them identified simply as Jimoh told the publication that he was at the bank as early as 7:30am.
Jimoh further revealed that the bank’s security personnel informed them that the banks were shut due to fears of attacks.
Banks in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko Northeast local government area, banks were also not opened for businesses.
It was also gathered that farmers and traders who came to Ikare for banking transactions from distant places were also disappointed as they couldn't carry out any.
Most of them lamented that they were suffering due to the low cash in circulation.
