It all started on Wednesday when a Twitter user identified as John Doe initiated a poll for men on the platform.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has caused some stir online.
The NIS became a subject of discussion on social media after its official Twitter handler engaged in a banter session with users.
It all started on Wednesday when a Twitter user identified as John Doe initiated a poll for men on the platform.
The user had asked men whom they would prefer to marry if a police officer, immigration officer, army officer, and DSS officer were to be a woman.
“Men, If you’re to choose amongst this four type of women to marry, which will be your pick? Women, please do not vote abeg. Vote and/or comment,” he had written.
The poll, which had a total of 3,358 results, was won by immigration.
Reacting, the NIS quoted the poll with a meme of Charles Inojie saying: “na them dey rush us”.
It also accompanied the meme with a terse post which reads “dey play”.
The NIS further responded to a user who expressed his desire to marry an immigration officer based on the poll with a meme of Sabinus, the comedian.
The NIS’ humourous conversations with Twitter users have continued to elicit mixed reactions on the platform.
Some users commended the organisation for adopting a friendly approach to engaging people.
“I must commend the Handler of this Account for such an amazing, friendly and cordial response. I commend you and by extension wish that other governmental agencies (social media handlers) should also embrace this cheerful display at times, especially in this period and time,” a user wrote.
A segment of users, however, argued that a government handle should instead focus on serious issues.
“A government office doing meme? Na secondary school grad una employ there?” a user asked.
