A former Nigerian lawmaker Shehu Sani has identified major problems that might plague the 2023 presidential election that's barely 37 days away.

According to him, security poses a major threat to the election.

Senator Sani also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure that people who live in localities with security challenges will not be disenfranchised.

The statement was contained in a post via his verified Twitter handle on Thursday.

He noted that conducting elections in some parts of the country will be a great challenge.

“Nigeria’s most important problem is security. Conducting election in some parts of the country will definitely be a great challenge. INEC must device means of ensuring that people who live dangerous localities are not disenfranchised,” he wrote.
