Gunmen Abduct 2, Injure Others In Jigawa Community

The police commissioner in the state, Emmanuel Effiom Ekot, said the gunmen also shot two other residents in the incident that occurred late Monday.

 

The kidnapping of two persons has been confirmed by the police in Jigawa State on Tuesday, following an attack by gunmen on Andaza Community in Kiyawa LGA of the state.

Residents said the kidnappers, wielding weapons, went straight to the residence of their target who is a medical doctor, Husseini Yakubu, and abducted his mother and daughter. 

He identified the victims as Khadija Yakubu, 50, and Aisha Shehu, 15.

Effiom said one Musa Dahiru and Sani Nuhu were shot in their legs and hands, respectively, and were taken to a hospital in the community.

He said when police operatives were deployed to the scene, they trailed the gunmen a bush and they discovered that the abductors came with motorcycles with which they fled with the victims.

He said efforts were on to rescue the victims.
