In an Instagram post, the thespian said he was set to go into rap music and vowed that his tracks would revive the genre, which superstar singer Wizkid said was dead.
Recall that Nigerian music icon Wizkid, in an interview with 10 magazine, said he doesn’t listen to rap because the genre is “dead, boring, and tired.”
Rap, according to the Made in Lagos star, is becoming extinct, and Afrobeats have surpassed all other music genres to become the new pop.
Reacting, Yul Edochie, who has made a name for himself in the Nigerian movie industry, said he’s delving into music to revive rap.
He also noted that he’ll be releasing his debut track soon.
“@wizkidayo said Rap music is dead. Well I’m about to wake it up. The entire system will be shut down. Album dropping soon.”. He captioned the video of him rapping.
