Police Detain Trigger-Happy Officer Over Murder Of Ajah Resident

The Command stated that the officer involved in the shooting has been disarmed and apprehended.

The police have arrested and detained one of its officers for allegedly shooting a man in the Ajah area of Lagos state.

Based on the video going around the social media space, it was gathered that the young man identified as Gafaru Buraimoh of Happy Land Estate, Ajah, went buy petrol when he was gunned down by an Inspector of Police.

While the culprit was disarmed and apprehended by his peers, the video showed other personnel of the Nigerian Police shooting teargas to dispel the crowd.

Reacting to the situation via a press release on its official Twitter account, @PoliceNG, and signed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command stated that the officer involved in the shooting has been disarmed and apprehended.

It was further gathered that the family of the victims has been contacted about the incident.

“The Lagos State Police Command through the Area Commander, Elemoro and Divisional Police Officer, Ajah has since notified and established contact with the family.

“The Command, while commiserating with the family of the deceased over the avoidable and most unfortunate incident, gives assurances that the already commenced investigation into the immediate and remote circumstances leading to the shooting will be brought to a speedy and conclusive end, while equally ensuring that justice is served,” the statement read.
