Update: Kidnapped Benue Commissioner Regains Freedom - Police

While the police launched a manhunt for the kidnappers for possible rescue of the trio, family sources disclosed that the captors opened talks and demanded N5 million ransom.

Men of the Benue State Police Command have confirmed the release of Chief Dennis Ekpe Ogbu, the Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development who was kidnapped on Sunday, December 4, alongside his aide and driver, along Ado-Otukpo road.

While the police launched a manhunt for the kidnappers for possible rescue of the trio, family sources told journalists on Monday night that the captors opened talks and demanded N5 million ransom.

The state police spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the release of the commissioner on the command’s media platform at 5:47 pm on Tuesday, December 6.

She did not give any further details about the release of the commissioner or mention the whereabouts of the two others.

Anene wrote;

“Benue State Police Command confirms the release of Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development.”
