Fadah’s removal comes six months after his appointment as the NYSC DG in May 2022.

The sack of Brigadier-General Mohammed Fadah as the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been confirmed by the federal government.

The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare confirmed the sack on Friday, according to TheNation.

We had early reported that President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday ordered the sack and also approved the immediate replacement of the Director-General of the youth scheme in an acting capacity.

Fadah’s removal comes six months after his appointment as the NYSC DG in May 2022.

There are claims that Fadah after his removal as NYSC DG has been directed to hand over to the most senior official within the NYSC.

The senior official who takes over from Fadah is expected to act as DG of the corps pending the announcement of a substantive new head.

Confirming the sack, Minister Dare in response to an inquiry on the matter by The Nation said ‘yes.’

The platform had asked, “Honourable Minister, please is it true that the President has approved the sack of the NYSC DG?”

Dare responded tersely, “yes” on Friday.

Additional reports claim President Buhari ordered the sack of Fadah as the NYSC DG due to a lack of competence.

Speaking with TheCable on Thursday, sources said the President sacked Fadah over alleged incompetence and lack of capacity to hold the position.
