Malam Salisu Idris, the village head of Nyalun community has been killed by suspected bandits who stormed the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau state.
It was gathered that two other residents were also killed during the attack which occurred on Monday night.
Residents told Punch in Jos on Tuesday that the victims were killed in the village when the gunmen arrived at the community on motorcycles and started shooting everywhere.
According to the residents, the attackers who invaded the village around 9 30pm, also abducted five members of the village’s head family including his two wives.
A youth leader in Wase, Shapi’i Sambo, said, “The attackers came in their numbers and started shooting sporadically.
“They went straight to the traditional ruler’s house, killed him and abducted five members of his family.
“The gunmen also made away with a good number of motorcycles belonging to the people of the community.''
The Spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred, also confirmed the incident adding that security operatives had begun investigation into the matter.
