Mother Of Ex-Secretary To Bayelsa Government Dies A Year After Release From Kidnappers’ Den

Madam Kombowei was first kidnapped at her hometown, Korokorosei on 14th January, 2013 when her son, Konbowei Benson, was Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

 

The immediate past Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government, Konbowei Benson's mother, Madam Betinah Benson, has died.

She died a year after she was released from the hands of her kidnappers.

Madam Kombowei was first kidnapped at her hometown, Korokorosei on 14th January, 2013 when her son, Konbowei Benson, was Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

SaharaReporters had reported that Madam Kombowei was kidnapped again in 2021 by some hoodlums who invaded her residence at Old Assembly quarters, Azikoro Road, Yenagoa in military uniforms.

She was kidnapped around 8pm on July 20, 2021.

Madam Kombowei who regained freedom after spending 31 days in the den of kidnappers, was reportedly treated well by her abductors.

However, a statement released on Saturday on behalf of the family by the former SSG on Saturday noted that the 82 years old woman died on the 11th of October, 2022 after a brief illness.

The burial arrangements would be communicated to the public in a later date, the statement noted.
