Fani-Kayode in a letter entitled ‘An open letter to Jagaban’ on June 25, 2020, while still in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had mocked Tinubu for failing to be vice president in 2015.
A throwback video of former Aviation minister, Femi Fani Kayode vowing that he would never leave the Peoples Democratic Party to join the All Progressives Congress has surfaced online.
Kayode had made the pledge during an interview with Channels Television.
Recall that Kayode is now one of the spokespersons of the APC presidential campaign.
In his words;
"PDP is my party. Till Jesus comes, I will never join the APC"
Also, in a 2020 article, Femi Fani-Kayode called out the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, saying that he will fail in the 2023 election.
Fani-Kayode in a letter entitled ‘An open letter to Jagaban’ on June 25, 2020, while still in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had mocked Tinubu for failing to be vice president in 2015.
He further stated that the former Governor of Lagos State has failed to acknowledge that God alone rules in the affairs of men.
He claimed that Tinubu has failed to acknowledge that the presidency can only be given by God.
Fani-Kayode added that God gives it to whoever he deems fit by prophecy and divine decree.
He wrote, “You dreamed of being Vice President in 2015 and you failed. You are dreaming of being President in 2023 and you will fail. In all your plans what you failed to appreciate is that God alone rules in the affairs of men.”
Fani-Kayode while stating his reason said Tinubu “refused to acknowledge or accept the fact that the Presidency of Nigeria can only be given by God and He gives it to whom He deems fit by prophecy and divine decree”.
The former minister who is a staunch critic of the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari-led government, however, dumped PDP to join the APC on September 16, 2021.
And ever since he moved to the ruling party, Fani-Kayode has been a critic of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar and the flagbearer of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi stating why they can’t win the 2023 race.
Fani-Kayode who had accused the APC of plotting to Islamize the country before the primary election, in an interview on the 18th of August noted that he was against the party because he was in the PDP.
The former minister after Tinubu’s emergence as APC presidential candidate defended the choice of Kashim Shettima as the vice presidential candidate of the APC amid grievances against the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the party.
Fani-Kayode had stated that Shettima as the Governor of Borno State built more churches in the State than any other governor before him.
