Wike stated that other political parties have reached out to him because they want to get the vote of Rivers State.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has revealed why different parties have been visiting him ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
According to the governor, different paties have reached out to him because they want to get the vote of Rivers state.
He made this known while speaking at a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Friday.
While denying that speaking with other parties is an act of anti-party activity, Wike accused the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, of also speaking to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Wike, other political parties in Nigeria know he is very important, hence the moves to lure him to their camp.
Recall that the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu and the Labour Party presidential flagbearer, Peter Obi, had in August met Wike in London, UK.
Meanwhile, Wike accused the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, of working against his emergence as the presidential candidate of the party.
He accused Ayu of calling many presidential aspirants to withdraw for Atiku Abubakar, who eventually picked the ticket.
He mentioned some of those contacted to withdraw for Atiku as Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed: his Sokoto counterpart Aminu Tambuwal and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Wike claimed that Ayu also threatened to resign as chairman if he emerged as the candidate, stating the National Chairman manipulated the process for the victory of Atiku.
