The IPOB leader’s brother said that the inability of the secret police to allow medical doctors examine his brother despite his debilitating health is quite unfortunate.

Emmanuel Kanu has given a warning to the Department of State Service (DSS) concerning the health of his brother, Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

Emmanuel said DSS will be held responsible if Kanu dies in their custody.

His statement follows revelations by the counsel to the IPOB leader, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, that Kanu was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal disorder, thus berating the DSS for refusing to act on the order of Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja that the IPOB leader should be given serious medical attention.

Speaking about the development with Daily Sun, Emmanuel disclosed that what he saw of his brother’s health after visiting him at the DSS facility in Abuja yesterday made him sad and angry.

He said, “I visited my brother and the leader of the IPOB Nmamdi Kanu yesterday at the DSS facility in Abuja where he is being detained and what I saw did not give me joy.”

He further revealed that the IPOB leader needs to be properly examined by a specialist, as he has been battling stomach ache since he was kept in detention.

Emmanuel further gave a note of warning that if anything happens to the Biafran leader, DSS would be held responsible.

He called on all people of goodwill and the international community to put pressure on the Nigerian Government to prevail on the DSS to allow his brother be examined by his doctors.

“My brother is having serious stomach problem where he is being detained and he needs his specialist doctors to examine him”, Emmanuel said.

Recall that Kanu has been detained in DSS custody for about 14 months as he is facing trial in court over alleged treason against Nigeria.
