In what will come across as a really startling development, a pregnant woman and a kid have been killed.

They were reportedly crushed to death on Friday by a cement truck along the Abeokuta-Ibadan highway, Ogun State.

It was learnt that the truck carrying bags of cement, lost control and rammed into a building.

While two persons were confirmed dead, four other occupants of the building sustained serious injuries in the crash involving the DAF Truck marked, BDJ 112 XF.

The spokesman of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident.

According to Akinbiyi, the truck was travelling from Ewekoro to Ibadan when the incident occurred, blaming the accident on excessive speeding.

He said a team of police officers were deployed to the scene of the incident to prevent youths who were angered by the accident from causing chaos.

Akinbiyi disclosed that the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the Odeda General Hospital.

He said, “corpses of the pregnant woman and minor, male have been deposited at Odeda General Hospital morgue, while the remaining accident victims were rescued to Ajitola Hospital At Kila, for medical treatment.”
