Gunmen Reportedly Kill Islamic Cleric in Ebonyi

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) while condoling with the Ebonyi State Muslims charged the authorities to arrest and prosecute the killers.

 
An Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Iyiorji has been reportedly killed in Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
 
This is according to a report by Daily Trust.
 
The reported stated that the cleric was shot at his residence on Sunday and died on Monday night, September 5, at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, where he was taken for medical treatment. 
 
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) while condoling with the Ebonyi State Muslims charged the authorities to arrest and prosecute the killers.
 
MURIC, in a statement signed by the chairman of the Abuja branch, Salahudeen Ustaz Yunus, urged the government to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack.
 
"May Allah enable the government to do the needful in getting to the root of the circumstances surrounding his attack by the dare devils. May Allah make it easy for each and every one of us to strive hard in pleasing Allah before our destined period of death,” the statement read in part.
 
Spokesperson of the police in the state, SP Chris Anyanwu, however, said that command was not aware of such incident.
 
“I have not heard or informed that such incident happened in Onicha Local Government Area, so that is just the situation,” he said.
