UPDATE: Two Bodies Recovered From Collapsed Lekki Building

Permanent Secretary (PS), LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu Director-General Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke – Osanyintolu provided the update in a statement.

 

According to a report by The Nation, two bodies have been pulled out from the rubble of the seven-storey building that collapsed in Lagos.

The building collapsed on Sunday morning in Lekki, Lagos.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said rescue operations are ongoing at the site.

Six people are believed to still be trapped in the rubble.

It reads: “Situation report on the collapsed building at Oba Idowu Oniru Street beside Ave Maria Hospital.

“The agency responded to a distress call at the above mentioned location and activated its response plan. Upon arrival at the scene, an uncompleted seven-storey building undergoing construction was found to have collapsed.

“Six people are reported to be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed structure. Two bodies have been located and recovered thus far. Operation ongoing.

It was not immediately clear the cause of the collapse but emergency workers and security operatives moved to the site to possibly rescue the trapped victims.

Oke-Osanyintolu and Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye assured that search and rescue operations were underway.
