On Friday, The Nigeria Police Force suspended two supernumerary Police officers, Obaze Blessing and Obaze Emmanuella Uju, over misconduct and violation of social media policy.
John Odafe Asiemo, the veteran singer, who is popularly known as Daddy Showkey, has criticized the Nigeria Police Force.
The singer spoke in defense of two female police officers who were suspended for posting a video on TikTok.
On Friday, The Nigeria Police Force suspended two supernumerary Police officers, Obaze Blessing and Obaze Emmanuella Uju, over misconduct and violation of social media policy.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this via his Twitter handle.
Speaking in the video he shared on his Twitter page, Adejobi said that the two female cops had “portrayed themselves in the viral video and other videos as undisciplined and unprofessional in contravention of the police social media policy.”
In the viral video captioned “sisters that slay together, work together”, both officers are featured in a montage of pictures where they are seen dressed in their uniforms, bikini, and casual wear.
Reacting to the suspension, Daddy Showkey stated that the action taken by the NPF was “uncalled for” as the video only aimed to portray the Nigerian police in a more relatable light to the populace.
According to him, the video could potentially reframe the mind of young people towards the police force for good.
“I tell you, our young people are not interested in joining the police, because many policemen have demonized the police.
“Somebody will see a policeman and be afraid, somebody will see a police police and be afraid to go to the policeman and say ‘this is what is wrong with me’.
“These two ladies are trying to make the police to be interesting. Trying to make young people to say ‘if we look like this, if we are like this, and we join the police, it doesn’t make the police a bad force’(sic).
“You’re the same people trying to repair the image of the police, go and find out. Do visibility studies (sic) on the image of the police. For me, I believe the suspension is uncalled for,” he said in a video posted via his Instagram page on Saturday.
