The chieftain of the party said his resignation is unconnected with Bola Tinubu's decision to choose a Muslim as his running mate.

A Nigerian senator, Magnus Abe has reacted to reports that he has resigned as a member of the All Progressives Congress.

A viral letter of withdrawal had surfaced online alleging that Abe dumped the party to pursue his governorship ambition.

Speaking on a live programme on Arise News Television on Wednesday morning, Abe admitted that he has dumped the Rivers State chapter of the APC but that the resignation letter in circulation was not from him.

Abe reiterated his unwavering support for the ambition of the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

The politician said he has no issues with the former Lagos State governor. He said: “I have since left APC in Rivers State but the letter circulating round is not from me. I am still with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and has no issue with him whatsoever.

“I am strongly in support of Asiwaju but I am not part of APC in Rivers State and the charade going on there.”
