The lawyer spoke after an audio clip circulated online that Kanu was missing, the IPOB leader was in detention.

Reports that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra is missing in detention have been addressed by Ifeanyi Ejiofor his lawyer.

Ejiofor made the clarification in a statement on Friday titled, ‘Important clarification”.

The lawyer said contrary to reports, particularly an audio clip circulating online that Kanu was missing, the IPOB leader was in detention.

He said Kanu was in the Department of State Services facility and he visited him (Kanu) on Thursday.

The statement read, “Please UMUCHINEKE, kindly ignore the audio message being mischievously promoted/circulated by the enemies of our people, to the effect that ONYENDU MAZI NNAMDI KANU is missing in DSS facility.

“The information is fake, a blatant lie and should be totally ignored by Ezigbo UMUCHINEKE.

“As a matter of fact, court-ordered routine visit was conducted yesterday and ONYENDU spent time with those that visited him.

“Thank you and God bless. Always keep your eyes on the ball.”

The PUNCH reports that IPOB had recently claimed that it was not oblivious of an alleged plot to attack its leader at the Kuje Prison by men of the DSS.

IPOB’s Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, made the allegation following the attack on Kuje prison in Abuja by terrorists.

IPOB said it was worried by the spates of jailbreaks in the country under the watch of the President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the ugly trends signposted a failed nation.

“The world should take note because if anything untoward happens to our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu…in the DSS custody, nobody should blame IPOB for inevitable and uncontrollable boundless calamitous consequences that would befall anyone.

“Know it that your silence hardens our conscience towards the pursuit of this great nation called Biafra. IPOB needs the unconditional release of our leader because there is no prison in the South that is safe for him. Therefore, we still need him released unconditionally to avoid dangerous terms IPOB may take against Nigeria.”
