Heartbreaking: How A Bride, Five Guests Perished In Horrific Crash In Jigawa

As many as six persons, including a bride, have been killed in a fatal crash in Jigawa State, The PUNCH reports.

He noted that three others suffered varying degrees of injury in the crash.

According to the statement, the accident involved a black Lexus SUV, with number plate, AAA 153 EA, driven by a 30-year-old man, Habib Habib, who was conveying eight passengers, including the bride, from Hadejia to Yalleman, Jigawa State.

Adam said, “On arriving Gidan Sugar, on their way back to Hadejia, both the rear and front tyres of the vehicle suddenly pulled out, making the driver lose control, as the vehicle somersaulted and screeched to a halt by the roadside.

“On receipt of the report, a team of policemen rushed to the scene and evacuated the victims to the General Hospital, Hadejia, for treatment.

“On arrival, six persons were certified dead by the medical doctor on duty, while others were admitted for treatment.”

The police identified the deceased as Rabi’a Aliyu, female, 50; Ummi Abubakar, female, 30; Aisha Soja, female 27; and Radiya Turaki, 3.

Others are Kabir Sani, male, two; and Habib Habib, male, 30.

The police said the corpses were released to their family members for burial.

The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, Aliyu Tafida, while condoling with the family members of the deceased, warned drivers to avoid overloading, speeding, hard drugs, alcohol and night journey.

In a related development, three persons were burnt beyond recognition on Monday when a fully loaded petrol tanker burst into flame after a brake failure in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Eyewitnesses told PUNCH Metro that the crash occurred around 8.17pm opposite Living Faith Church, Felele, along the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway.

The tanker, which was said to be fully loaded with diesel, was descending the sloppy section of the road when it had a brake failure, as the truck rammed into a pick-up van.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Stephen Dawulung, said three persons were burnt to death while two other victims were rescued with burns and taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, for medical attention.
