Mr Okupe’s comments come in the wake of criticisms which have trailed Obi’s trip to Egypt.
Doyin Okupe
Former Presidential aide and Director-general of Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe on Wednesday stated that Mr Obi’s trip to Egypt is to seek a permanent solution to the crippling power sector and more rewarding than going to Ekiti where a governorship election will hold on June 18.
Mr Okupe’s comments come in the wake of criticisms which have trailed Obi’s trip to Egypt. His critics say he should be interfacing with the electorate in Ekiti.
Okupe noted via Twitter that Obi’s trip to North Africa had been planned before party primaries.
“Peter Obi’s trip has been scheduled previously, even before primaries,” he said. “His mission principally is to see the plants installed by Siemens, which doubled the generating capacity of Egypt in 4yrs. To hold talks directly wt d coy on what will be feasible for nigeria&@what cost?
“Going to Egypt to seek a permanent solution to our crippling energy crisis is a more rewarding move than going to a rally in ekiti, in an election where we are obviously ill prepared for and where we will compete against well entrenched & incumbent establishment parties.”
