Panic As Gunmen Kill Four People, Set Building Ablaze In Ebonyi

Police spokesperson DSP Loveth Odah declined comment as she said she was away on an official assignment.

Some gunmen yesterday killed four persons in Ekpaomaka in Ikwo council of Ebonyi State, The Nation reports.

They also set a building ablaze.

Mr Steve Orogwu, Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council told newsmen that the hoodlums attacked Ekpaomaka, his country home, killed his elder brother, two of his brother’s sons and a security guard. 

He said the assailants also set his family house ablaze.

“They attacked my house at night and killed my elder brother and two of his sons; they killed our security guard and also set the family house ablaze,’’ he said.

He said the bodies were deposited at a morgue in Abakaliki.

Police spokesperson DSP Loveth Odah declined comment as she said she was away on official assignment.

But a credible police source  said the attackers would be unmasked and brought to justice.

Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru condemned the attack.

Nwifuru, a governorship aspirant, said the state government would toughen the security measures and redouble its efforts to root out criminals.

Governor David Umahi  condemned the attack, describing the attack as inhumane, vicious and barbaric.

Umahi called on security agencies to arrest the perpetrators of the attack.
