Driver Killed As Suspected Herdsmen Abduct ABSU Students, Other Passengers

The seven students were kidnapped on their way back to school around 6:pm on Sunday, May 15, along Okigwe-Uturu in a Siena vehicle.

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have kidnapped some passengers including students of the Abia State University Uturu ( ABSU).

According to Punch, the gunmen attacked a shuttle bus conveying the passengers along Okigwe-Uturu Road on Tuesday and killed the driver.

This comes two days after seven students of Abia State University were kidnapped along the same route.

The seven students were kidnapped on their way back to school around 6:pm on Sunday, May 15, along Okigwe-Uturu in a Siena vehicle.

One of the identified victims of the Sunday incident has been identified as Emmanuel Nzubechukwu Ubani, a 200 level Business Administration student who hails from Umuakpor Ovungwo in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Abia State.

Sharing a photo of some of the kidnapped students, one Daniel Obioma cried out to the Abia State Government to come to their aid.

"We are calling on the government on speed intervention on Absu okigwe road. It has turned to be a business and pure madness, students are been kidnapped on weekly  basis.Last week some students were kidnapped along side with a lecturer and ransom was paid. Now another kidnapping case occurred two days ago seven 7 students were kidnapped along the same spot. Pls save our lives we went to study not to die. Abia Government we call on you for speed Action.#saveAbia students. #Bring back our students"
he wrote.
