Police Launch Manhunt For Abductors Of Anambra Lawmaker

Confirming the abduction, police spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga said the lawmaker’s black Sienna bus, which he drove before the incident, had been recovered.

The Anambra state police command have launched a manhunt for the abductors of lawmaker representing Aguata Constituency 1 in the State House of Assembly, Dr. Okechukwu Okoye,

Confirming the abduction, police spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga said the lawmaker’s black Sienna bus, which he drove before the incident, had been recovered.

“The command has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers of the lawmaker with the aim of rescuing him,”
he said.

A member of the state House of Assembly, and Chief whip of the house, Hon Pete Ibida, said Okoye’s abduction was yet to be confirmed by the House.

Traditional ruler of Isuofia, Igwe Christopher Muoghalu (Retd), condemned the lawmaker’s kidnap, describing it as one of the worst crimes committed against the people of the area.

The monarch spoke in a statement by the Palace Secretary, Chukwujekwu Orajiuka.

“His Highness has urged the security agencies to spare no efforts in taking significant steps to rescue Hon. Okechukwu Okoye, and hold to account those responsible for this heinous violations of his human rights.

“He calls for the immediate and unconditional release and safe return of the lawmaker, failing which the land of Isuofia shall fight her own cause till the contrivers of this evil are put to doom,”
the statement said.
