The aircraft crash occurred at the NAF training base on Tuesday, with the two pilots on board.
President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the tragic death of two Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officers.
The officers died in a Super Mushshak trainer aircraft crash in Kaduna State on Tuesday at the NAF training base.
The pilots have been identified as Flight Lieutenant Abubakar Alkali and Flight Lieutenant Elijah Haruna Karatu.
In a statement on Wednesday by his presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu the president described the death of the two NAF officers as tragic and unfortunate.
He said: “I am shocked beyond words by the demise of these two promising young men who risked their lives in the service of the country. There is no reward big enough to pay for the services of these young and dedicated professional airmen in the service of their country.”
President Buhari commiserated with the Air Force, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, and the families of the deceased.
He commended the NAF for investigating the air mishap, urging them to publish and implement the recommendations of the reports of past investigations into air crashes.
The President stated that the implementation of the reports would help forestall future tragic incidents.
“I welcome the decision by the NAF authorities to investigate this accident, but I also call on them to publish and implement the recommendations of the reports of past investigations into air accidents, with a view to preventing future tragedies and putting closure to the families and friends of the deceased,” he added.
