Oyetola Orders Political Appointees With Ambition To Contest In The 2023 General Election to Resign

According to the governor, the concerned appointees must comply with the instruction with immediate effect.

 
All political appointees in Osun state have been ordered to resign.
 
The Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola gave the instruction only to appointees contesting in the 2023 general election.
 
This was contained in a release titled, ‘Notice to political appointees with interest to contest the 2023 general election’, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Oluwole Oyebamiji, obtained in Osogbo on Tuesday.
 
According to the governor, the concerned appointees must comply with the instruction with immediate effect.
 
The release read, “Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola the Executive Governor of Osun State has directed ALL Political Appointees in the state with interest to contest the 2023 General Elections to resign their appointments with immediate effect.

“This is sequel to the Executive Council meeting of Wednesday 13th April 2022 and the combined effect of Sections 84 (12) and 29(1) of the Electoral Acts 2022 as well as the Electoral timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“Notice is hereby given to ALL Political Appointees in Osun State to comply with the directive of Mr. Governor and the provision of the Law.”
