Obi said the social problem of kidnapping and its implications on the economic development of Nigeria should worry his compatriots.

A comment by national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, disowning Yemi Osinbajo has gotten the attention of Peter Obi.

Obi is a former Governor of Anambra State and presidential aspirant in the 2023 election.

Reacting on Tuesday, Obi said the competition between All Progressives Congress (APC) heavyweights, Bola Tinubu and Yemi Osinbajo, should not be paramount to Nigerians.

According to him, instead of getting worried over the fight between Osinbajo and Tinubu, Obi called on Nigerians to worry about kidnapping and its implications on the economic development of Nigeria.

Recall that Tinubu's statement disowning Osinbajo came after the VP declared his intention to contest in the 2023 presidential election.

When asked about Osibanjo's declaration, on Monday, Tinubu said Vice President Osinbajo is not his “son.”

“I don’t have any son grown up enough to make such declaration,” Tinubu had said.

When asked in an interview on Arise TV about the response of Tinubu, Obi said:

“Nigerians should now be concerned about the issues. This is not time for who is here or there; who is son or who is father. The thing is, we have a problem. People are not being kidnapped as one, two now, they are packing families. That should bother us.”
