The Executive Secretary of the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), Abiola Idowu, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to a report by SaharaReporters, all operations at Medville Global Health Center have been temporarily shut down by Lagos State government.

The Executive Secretary of the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), Abiola Idowu, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Idowu asserted that the preliminary investigations carried out by the team revealed that the hospital was not registered with HEFAMAA, and that it had inadequate personnel.

The decision to shut the facility, located at Ago Palace Way in the Okota axis of the state, followed an investigation by the agency after one Triplem Mchaty accused the hospital of incompetence resulting in his wife’s death.

SaharaReporters had on Monday reported that Mchaty raised the alarm about his wife who died from childbirth complications at the hospital.

The man had further alleged that his wife died as a result of negligence on the part of medical practitioners at Medville Global Health Center in Lagos State.

In a Twitter thread on Sunday, the aggrieved man said the hospital induced his wife to speed up labour but 10 hours after that, she had yet to birth the child.

According to him, after they performed series of activities on his wife, the 28-year-old lady died while the baby was saved. Meanwhile, he said the baby was currently in the Intensive Care Unit of another hospital as he insisted that his wife died as a result of the incompetence of the doctors.

However, Solanke Koya, chairman of HEFAMAA board, has ordered a full-scale investigation to uncover the facts surrounding the death of Mchaty’s wife.

The agency said it took the “crucial decision” to shut the facility “in furtherance of public protection pending the final outcome of the ongoing investigations.”
