The attacks came barely 24 hours after the administrative headquarters of Nnewi South LGA was attacked, leaving two people dead.

In what will come across as a really startling development, some hoodlums have attacked the Amichi Divisional Police Headquarters in Nnewi South Local Government Area and some others in Anambra State, setting fire to the buildings.

The attacks came barely 24 hours after the administrative headquarters of Nnewi South LGA was attacked, leaving two people dead.

The police stations were still undergoing reconstruction as they were among those attacked during the 2020 EndSARS protest.

The Anambra State Police command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

He however said there was no casualty, adding that a team of police personnel had been drafted to the area to ensure calm.

According to him, the hoodlums, apart from attacking the Amichi police headquarters, also attacked the Osumoghu and Ezenifite police stations.

He said there were no policemen in the stations attacked as all the policemen in the police stations were moved to the area commands after the #ENDSARS saga.

“After the #ENDSARS incident, the communities started reconstruction of those stations and they have not finished them.

“By the time of the attack, there were no policemen there,” he said.

He said normalcy had been restored and urged residents in the area with useful information to make them available to the police to enable the command to deal with those responsible for insecurity in the area.
