Okupe said a Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket would not work in 2023.

Doyin Okupe has issued an important warning ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The former aide of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, on Friday warned political parties saying, a Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket would not work in 2023.

He also stressed that another northern presidential candidate from any political party would not work in 2023.

A series of tweets by the former presidential aide explained that President Muhammadu Buhari’s uninterrupted eight years rule would make it impossible for another northerner to rule the country in 2023.

He also warned the PDP on zoning its presidential ticket ahead of 2023.

Okupe warned PDP that throwing its presidential ticket open to all zones would lead the party to a path of self-destruction.

According to Okupe: “But if the PDP, based on any presumptive consideration, choose the perilous and clearly unjust and inequitable path of throwing the Presidential ticket at its primaries open to all zones, then the PDP will finally through an unforced error have activated a self destruct political app and would have commenced an irreversible journey to perdition.

“For the avoidance of doubt, if Muslim/Muslim or Christian/ Christian Presidential tickets will not work in Nigeria, so will a northern President from any party, following an uninterrupted 8year rule by the current President, not work in 2023.”
