Suspected bandits who abducted the Buhari, son of Alhaji Uba, the District Head of Zip in Taraba State, alongside six residents are demanding the sum of N210 million as ransom.

The District Head’s son, Buhari, and six others were kidnapped in Illela village, Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State about two weeks ago.

He explained that he pleaded with the abductors when negotiating with them but they insisted that each victim must be paid N30 million before they are released.

According to him, “I cannot afford half a million Naira let alone N30 million. Some of the parents of other abducted persons cannot afford even N10,000.”

He explained that the ring leader abused him severally when he told him that they can’t afford to pay what he was demanding and even threatened to kidnap him from his palace.

The District Head stated that the area is under serious threats of terrorists who are all over their domain.

DSP Usman Abdullahi, the spokesperson of the Taraba State Police Command, confirmed the abduction of 11 people, including the son of the traditional ruler of the area.
