Zamfara Assembly Commences Impeachment Process Against Deputy Governor

The Speaker gave the directive under an announcement contained in the House’s Order Paper that enable the House members to carefully study all the allegations levelled against the deputy governor.

The Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Magarya has told Shehu Anka, the Clerk, to issue all members with the impeachment notice of the deputy governor of the state, Mahdi Gusau.

A statement from the spokesman of the House, Mustafa Kaura stated that the action was pursuant to Section 188 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

The statement explained that the Speaker gave the directive under an announcement contained in the House’s Order Paper of Wednesday that enable the House members to carefully study all the allegations levelled against the deputy governor.

According to the statement, “With this development, the House is following due diligence of the law as contained in the relevant provisions of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).”
