The fake medics
Three persons falsely parading themselves as medical practitioners have been apprehended in Rivers state.
They were apprehended at Andoni Local Government Council in Rivers State.
The suspects, two males posing as doctors and a female posing as a Nurse were arrested in Asarama community of Andoni based on a tip-off from Head of Medical Personnel in the Local Government.
The suspects were identified as Gift Harvest who claim to be an auxiliary nurse, Dr. Patrick Effiong and Williams Biranwi who claim to be medical personnel.
Andoni Council Chairman, Erastus Awortu who confirmed the development said the suspects were on illegal medical mission to the local government without proof of qualifications.
He said the suspects who are quacks had even performed surgeries on some unsuspecting victims before they were caught.
While condemning the act, Awortu said the suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation with a view to uncovering their true intention.
The local government chairman also called on the populace of Andoni to be vigilant as criminals seeking to exploit the unsuspecting public can go to any length including endangering the lives of people to achieve their illegitimate and awful intentions.
The Rivers State Police Command has not reacted to the arrest of the alleged impersonators at the time of filing this report.
