Abducted Ondo Farmers Regain Freedom After Four Days In Bandits Den

Ten farmers abducted by bandits at a farm in Ayede- Ogbese, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, have been released.

A farmer identified as Femi Alawiye, and nine of his workers were kidnapped by armed men on his farm on Saturday evening January 29.

They were lured to the farm by the kidnappers  under the pretence that the farm was on fire.

Channels Television reported that a family member of the farmer said that a few hours after the abduction, the kidnappers contacted the family, demanding a sum of N100 million ransom which they later reduced to N10 million naira after much negotiation.

It is still not clear if the family of the victims paid ransom to secure their release.

Spokesperson of Ondo State Police Command, DSP Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed their release. He said the victims regained their freedom in the early hours of Wednesday February 2.
