Oh No! Police Commission Secretary, Alo Loses 10-Year-Old Son

A statement by PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani said Mathew died on January 9 and was buried on Saturday.

 

William Alo, the Police Service Commission (PSC) Secretary, has lost his 10-year-old son, Mathew Akachukwu Alo.

The child died in a domestic accident at the family home in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi.

A statement by PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani said Mathew died on January 9 and was buried on Saturday.

It noted that the deceased was helping his parents entertain visitors until tragedy struck between 5pm and 6pm.

“He was involved in a domestic accident and fell to the cold hands of death,” the spokesman disclosed.

PSC Chairman, Musiliu Smith, a former Inspector-General of Police, described the manner of death as devastating.

The commission prayed God to grant the entire family and associates the fortitude to bear the loss.

The funeral mass was led by the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, Most Rev. Peter Nworie Chukwu.

In attendance were ex-Ebonyi Governor, Martin Elechi and wife; former Chief Justices of Ebonyi, Aloy Nwankwo and Anselm Nwaigwe; ex-Secretaries to State Government, Boniface Chima and Hyginus Nwokwu, among others.

“He was so attached to me that it will take many years to adjust to the reality of his permanent absence”, Alo said.

The Federal Permanent Secretary hails from Ekwetekwe-Umuezeoka in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi.
